School is not only academics; it is a culture. At Oak Hill we try to offer a variety of extracurricular and social activities to build a distinctly Christian culture. We want activities that build godly character and relationships not only between students, but between families and our staff.
Family Fun Nights
Frequently throughout the year we host a game night for families at Oak Hill. This way families get to know each other and parents get to know their children’s friends.
Movie Nights
Once each quarter families are invited to attend a movie on campus followed by a time of discussion about themes, message, world view, technical skills, etc. Discussions are based on Francis Schaeffer’s criteria for judging art.
Kilns Cafe Days
Every Tuesday afternoon the upper school students host a cafe day. Parents bake goods. The upper school students volunteer to serve these treats and make Italian sodas. This offers an opportunity for older students to serve our school community. Funds from the cafe are allocated to improve some part of our campus. In 2022-2024 the funds are going toward the school playground.
Recitations
Throughout the year students in grades JK-12th memorize poems, literature passages, historical speeches, and Bible verses. Twice a year students participate in a recitation competition. Students learn valuable speaking and performance skills from these speech meets.
Classroom Events
Teachers help students organize and host events during the school year which parents and/or other classes are invited to. This is a chance for students to practice hospitality and speaking skills as well as fellowship within the school.
