Robert and his wife, Sheila, began Oak Hill Christian School in 1997. They have seen 7 of their grown children graduate from the school. Their 2 youngest still attend. Robert earned a B.A. in business and Austrian economics at Grove City College and a J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law.

Sheila Key Thoburn

Sheila Key Thoburn has been instrumental in shaping Oak HIll’s classical curriculum. A native of Arlington, she studied Early Childhood Development at Pellissippi State and brings both warmth and whimsy to the classroom. A lifelong lover of books, Sheila also enjoys writing and regularly shares her thoughts on education on the school blog. She is a registered instructor with Institutes for Excellence in Writing and has taught IEW methods for over 15 years.

Abigail Thoburn

Abigail Faith Thoburn helps keep Oak Hill running smoothly. With her exceptional organization and people skills, she makes sure both staff and families are well cared for. A graduate of New Saint Andrews College with an A.A. in Liberal Arts, Abigail is also a skilled editor and multitasker who brings efficiency and clarity to every project. When not in the office, she is most likely attending a pilates class, playing pickleball or sipping coffee in a cozy cafe.

Sarah Jenkins

Socian Media and Administrative Assistant

Sarah Jenkins has a great eye for detail that she uses to capture moments around school on camera as well as keeping things organized behind the scenes. She graduated summa cum laude from Davis College in New York and has spent over ten years serving in youth ministry. Her diligent work ethic is an inspiration to students and staff alike. She and her husband have four children who all attend Oak Hill.
