Athletics

As a Christian school our most important job is to help students with godly character training and strong academics. We have chosen to put our biggest effort into these two areas which may lead many to believe we are not interested in athletics. This is simply not the case.

Godly characteristics include physical strength, endurance, self-control and selflessness. All of these can be enhanced through a simple sports program.

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were brought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
– I Corinthians 6:19-20

The purpose of our sports program is to encourage students to take care of their bodies both physically and spiritually through thoughtful choices. Our P.E. Teachers emphasize sportsmanship over winning.

We have an intramural sports program for all of our elementary and upper school students as part of their P.E. classes. Students learn and practice skills for a specific sport each quarter. They have after school games with teams based on our House System.

In addition to building sportsmanship values, teachers seek to build a love of physical activity by offering occasional fun sports such as human foosball and field days. Sportsmanship is worked on even in these whimsical games as students are encouraged to love one another as themselves.

“For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.”
– I Timothy 4:8
